Improv Technologies Releases Alpha Version of Cirquet(TM)

NEW YORK, July 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Improv Technologies, Inc., a software infrastructure company, has released the alpha version of Cirquet(TM), the company's comprehensive platform for the development, deployment and management of distributed applications. Cirquet enables companies to rapidly and cost effectively create customized solutions to meet their unique business processes.

Improv Technologies' partners, including Realsoft and IT Angel, will be testing Cirquet over the next few weeks, according to Zachary Julius, Improv's chief executive officer. Their evaluation and feedback will be incorporated into the beta release of Cirquet that will be introduced next quarter.

With Cirquet, software developers can dynamically assemble Java software components, including Java Beans and Enterprise Java Beans, into custom applications at run-time. By doing so, they can eliminate up to 40% of software development time devoted to writing and compiling ``glue-code.'' Components become truly reusable, lowering costs of future application development.

Once assembled, Cirquet-enabled components and applications can be efficiently deployed across a peer-to-peer network, taking advantage of the processing power and storage at the edge of the network. This reduces the need for expensive centralized servers as well as lowers bandwidth costs.

Components are ``smart'' and can be centrally managed though distributed across the network. Automatic updating of components can take place without re-installing software or shutting down the application or the computer. Security, license and tracking control are all built in.

By 2003, 70 percent of new applications will be assembled using pre- written software components and application frameworks, according to the Gartner Group. With 30 to 40 percent of corporate IT budgets typically spent on integration activities, according to Forrester Research, reusing existing components can result in significant budget and time savings. The Gartner Group also notes the growing importance of making it easier for people other than traditional programmers to build applications.

``Cirquet targets the middle market enterprises that can not afford the high cost of building custom solutions, but are also not satisfied with less-expensive off-the shelf solutions,'' said Julius. ``By lowering the costs of developing, deploying and managing custom applications, Cirquet enables small to medium size companies to enjoy the same benefits previously reserved only for large corporations.''

Companies interested in testing and evaluating the alpha release of Cirquet should contact Improv at cirquetalpha@improv-tech.com.
